On April 24, The Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhail ordered to keep an Ismaili teacher in her position. His decision came after transferring a school teacher for sectarian reasons.
Al-Dakhail launched hashtag on his official account in Twitter titled “No-to- sectarianism- and- division” denouncing this sectarian arbitrary decision.
In the same context, the Ministry of Education ordered mandating a commission to investigate reasons behind transferring the teacher.
The Ministry stated that the commission will show findings immediately after finishing investigations. It added that it is keen of the educational process and the benefits of both students and teachers.Accordingly activists on twitter launched hashtag discussing social and national implications of this issue and demanding to combat sectarianism.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of education was and still practicing various forms of discrimination against Shia in all fields. Shia females are not allowed to occupy administrative position or teach religion subjects in schools so far. Furthermore, government doesn’t allow establishing private schools in Shia districts.
